Jaisalmer Tahsil, with population of about 2.7 lakh is Jaisalmer district's the 2nd least populous sub district, located in Jaisalmer district of the state Rajasthan in India. There are 338 villages in the sub district, among them Mohangarh is the most populous village with population of 9928 and Jayan is the least populous village with population of 3. Tanot is the biggest village in the sub district with an area of 741 km2 and Sameja Par is the smallest with 1 km2.

There is only one city in the sub district that comes under the sub district administration which is Jaisalmer Municipality.

Demographics

The sub district is home to about 2.7 lakh people, among them about 1.5 lakh (55%) are male and about 1.2 lakh (45%) are female. 78% of the whole population are from general caste, 15% are from schedule caste and 7% are schedule tribes.
