Thoothukkudi Taluka, with population of about 4.8 lakh is Thoothukkudi district's the most populous sub district, located in Thoothukkudi district of the state Tamil Nadu in India. There are 24 villages in the sub district, among them Thoothukudi is the most populous village with population of about 14 thousand and Sendilampannai is the least populous village with population of 103. Umarikottai is the biggest village in the sub district with an area of 26 km2 and Thoothukudi is the smallest with 1 km2.
There are 7 cities in the sub district which comes under the sub district administration, those are - Thoothukkudi Municipal Corporation; Milavittan, Mappilaiurani, Muttayyapuram, Athimarapatti and Sankaraperi Census Towns (limited to 5 most populous).
