Arunachal Pradesh State, with population of about 13.8 lakh is India's the 3rd least populous state. Total geographical area of Arunachal Pradesh state is about 84 thousand km2 and it is the 15th smallest state by area in the country. Population density of the state is 17 persons per km2. There are 16 districts in the state, among them Papum Pare is the most populous district with population of about 1.8 lakh and Dibang Valley is the least populous district with population of 8004. Dibang Valley is the biggest district in the state with an area of 9129 km2 and Tawang is the smallest with 2172 km2.

Demographics

The state is home to about 13.8 lakh people, among them about 7.1 lakh (52%) are male and about 6.7 lakh (48%) are female. 31% of the whole population are from general caste and 69% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Arunachal Pradesh state is 15%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 2.7 lakh households in the state and an average 5 persons live in every family.

The majority of the population, nearly 77% (about 10.7 lakh) live in Arunachal Pradesh rural part and 23% (about 3.2 lakh) population live in the Arunachal Pradesh urban part. persons per km2.
