Jaipur District, with population of about 66.3 lakh is Rajasthan's the most populous district, located in the state Rajasthan in India. Total geographical area of Jaipur district is about 11 thousand km2 and it is the 9th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 595 persons per km2. There are 13 sub districts in the district, among them Jaipur is the most populous sub district with population of about 23 lakh and Viratnagar is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.7 lakh.
There are 12 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Jaipur Municipal Corporation; Chomu, Kotputli, Shahpura, Chaksu and Bagru Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous) and Phulera Municipality and Out Growth.
Demographics
The district is home to about 66.3 lakh people, among them about 34.7 lakh (52%) are male and about 31.6 lakh (48%) are female. 77% of the whole population are from general caste, 15% are from schedule caste and 8% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Jaipur district is 14%, among them 54% are boys and 46% are girls. There are about 11.8 lakh households in the district and an average 6 persons live in every family.
The majority of the population, nearly 52% (about 34.7 lakh) live in Jaipur District urban part and 48% (about 31.5 lakh) population live in the Jaipur District rural part. Rural population density of Jaipur district is 305 and urban population density is 4397 persons per km2.

Hindus contribute 88% of the total population and are the largest religious community in the district followed by Muslims which contribute 10% of the total population and Jains are the third largest religious community here with 1% population.. Female Sex ratio per 1000 male in Hindus are 908 in Muslims are 929 and in Jains are 940.

Population of the district has increased by 26.2% in last 10 years. In 2001 census total population here were about 52.5 lakh. Female population growth rate of the district is 27.2% which is 1.9% higher than male population growth rate of 25.3%. General caste population has increased by 25.5%; Schedule caste population has increased by 29%; Schedule Tribe population has increased by 27.9% and child population has increased by 1.1% in the district since last census.
