Ganganagar District, with population of about 19.7 lakh is Rajasthan's the 15th most populous district, located in the state Rajasthan in India. Total geographical area of Ganganagar district is about 11 thousand km2 and it is the 10th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 179 persons per km2. There are 9 sub districts in the district, among them Ganganagar is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.8 lakh and Vijainagar is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.5 lakh.
There are 11 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Ganganagar (M Cl + OG) Municipal Council and Out Growth; Ganganagar (M Cl) Municipal Council; Suratgarh (M), Anupgarh (M), Raisinghnagar (M), Sadulshahar (M) and Karanpur (M) Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous).
Demographics
The district is home to about 19.7 lakh people, among them about 10.4 lakh (53%) are male and about 9.3 lakh (47%) are female. 63% of the whole population are from general caste, 37% are from schedule caste and 1% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Ganganagar district is 13%, among them 54% are boys and 46% are girls. There are about 3.9 lakh households in the district and an average 5 persons live in every family.
