Ernakulam District, with population of about 32.8 lakh is Kerala's the 3rd most populous district, located in the state Kerala in India. Total geographical area of Ernakulam district is 3063 km2 and it is the 4th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 1072 persons per km2. There are 7 sub districts in the district, among them Kanayannur is the most populous sub district with population of about 8.5 lakh and Kothamangalam is the least populous sub district with population of about 2.4 lakh.

There are 9 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Kochi Municipal Corporation; Kalamassery, Thrippunithura, Kothamangalam, Angamaly and Paravur Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous).
