Bellary District, with population of about 24.5 lakh is Karnataka's the 6th most populous district, located in the state Karnataka in India. Total geographical area of Bellary district is 8461 km2 and it is the 7th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 290 persons per km2. There are 7 sub districts in the district, among them Bellary is the most populous sub district with population of about 7.7 lakh and Hagaribommanahalli is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.9 lakh.

There is only one city in the district that comes under the district administration which is Bellary Municipal Corporation.

The district is home to about 24.5 lakh people, among them about 12.4 lakh (50%) are male and about 12.2 lakh (50%) are female. 60% of the whole population are from general caste, 21% are from schedule caste and 18% are schedule tribes.
