Guntur District, with population of about 48.9 lakh is Andhra Pradesh's the 2nd most populous district, located in the state Andhra Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Guntur district is about 11 thousand km2 and it is the 7th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 429 persons per km2. There are 57 sub districts in the district, among them Guntur is the most populous sub district with population of about 7.8 lakh and Savalyapuram H/O Kanamarlapudi is the least populous sub district with population of about 38 thousand.
There are 17 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Guntur Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Guntur Municipal Corporation; Tenali, Narasaraopet, Chilakaluripet, Mangalagiri and Bapatla Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous) Narasaraopet, Mangalagiri, Tadepalle and Vinukonda Municipality and Out Growths.
Demographics
The district is home to about 48.9 lakh people, among them about 24.4 lakh (50%) are male and about 24.5 lakh (50%) are female. 75% of the whole population are from general caste, 20% are from schedule caste and 5% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Guntur district is 10%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 13 lakh households in the district and an average 4 persons live in every family.
The majority of the population, nearly 66% (about 32.4 lakh) live in Guntur District rural part and 34% (about 16.5 lakh) population live in the Guntur District urban part. Rural population density of Guntur district is 292 and urban population density is 5239 persons per km2.

Population of the district has increased by 9.5% in last 10 years. In 2001 census total population here were about 44.7 lakh. Female population growth rate of the district is 10.5% which is 2% higher than male population growth rate of 8.5%. General caste population has increased by 7.1%; Schedule caste population has increased by 17%; Schedule Tribe population has increased by 18.7% and child population has decreased by -7.9% in the district since last census.
