Kurukshetra District, with population of about 9.6 lakh is Haryana's the 7th least populous district, located in the state Haryana in India. Total geographical area of Kurukshetra district is 1530 km2 and it is the 7th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 630 persons per km2. There are 3 sub districts in the district, among them Thanesar is the most populous sub district with population of about 5.8 lakh and Shahbad is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.3 lakh.
