Buldana District, with population of about 25.9 lakh is Maharashtra's the 18th least populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Buldana district is 9661 km2 and it is the 15th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 268 persons per km2. There are 13 sub districts in the district, among them Khamgaon is the most populous sub district with population of about 3.2 lakh and Deolgaon Raja is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.3 lakh.

There are 12 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Khamgaon, Malkapur, Buldana, Shegaon and Chikhli Municipal Councils (limited to 5 most populous) and Nandura Municipal Council and Out Growth.

The district is home to about 25.9 lakh people, among them about 13.4 lakh (52%) are male and about 12.5 lakh (48%) are female. 77% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 5% are schedule tribes.
