Ahmadabad District, with population of about 72.1 lakh is Gujarat's the most populous district, located in the state Gujarat in India. Total geographical area of Ahmadabad district is 8107 km2 and it is the 8th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 890 persons per km2. There are 11 sub districts in the district, among them Ahmadabad City is the most populous sub district with population of about 55.9 lakh and Mandal is the least populous sub district with population of about 70 thousand.

There are 11 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Sanand, Dholka and Bavla Municipality and Out Growths; Dholka, Viramgam, Sanand, Bavla and Dhandhuka Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous) and Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation and Out Growth.
