Total geographical area of Datia district is 2902 km2 and it is the 2nd smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 271 persons per km2. There are 4 sub districts in the district, among them Datia is the most populous sub district with population of about 3.7 lakh and Seondha is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.2 lakh.

There is only one city in the district that comes under the district administration which is Datia Municipality.
