Total geographical area of Jhansi district is 5024 km2 and it is the 9th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 398 persons per km2. There are 5 sub districts in the district, among them Jhansi is the most populous sub district with population of about 8.9 lakh and Tahrauli is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.8 lakh.

There is only one city in the district that comes under the district administration which is Jhansi Municipal Corporation.
