Baran District, with population of about 12.2 lakh is Rajasthan's the 7th least populous district, located in the state Rajasthan in India. Total geographical area of Baran district is 6992 km2 and it is the 15th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 175 persons per km2. There are 8 sub districts in the district, among them Baran is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.1 lakh and Mangrol is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.1 lakh.

The district is home to about 12.2 lakh people, among them about 6.3 lakh (52%) are male and about 5.9 lakh (48%) are female. 59% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 23% are schedule tribes.
