Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation, with population of about 1 crore is Maharashtra's the most populous municipal corporation located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Greater Mumbai municipal corporation is 603 km2 and it is the biggest city by area in the state. Population density of the city is 20634 persons per km2. There are 97 wards in the city, among them Greater Mumbai Ward No.-2080 is the most populous ward with population of about 7.6 lakh and Greater Mumbai Ward No.-1463 is the least populous ward with population of 1669.

District head quarter of the city is Greater Mumbai. Greater Mumbai is the state head quarter of the city. Yearly average rainfall of the city is 2258 mm. Maximum temperature here reaches up to 38.8°C and minimum temperature goes down to 12.2°C.

The city is divided into 2 parts, the parts are - Greater Mumbai (Part 1) and Greater Mumbai (Part 2) Municipal Corporations.


The city is home to about 1 crore people, among them about 67.2 lakh (54%) are male and about 57.3 lakh (46%) are female. 100% of the whole population are from general caste, 6% are from schedule caste and 1% are schedule tribes.
