Barasat Municipality, with population of about 2.8 lakh is North Twenty Four Parganas district's the 6th most populous municipality located in North Twenty Four Parganas district of the state West Bengal in India. Total geographical area of Barasat municipality is 35 km2 and it is the 2nd biggest city by area in the district. Population density of the city is 8071 persons per km2. There are 32 wards in the city, among them Barasat Ward No 07 is the most populous ward with population of about 17 thousand and Barasat Ward No 12 is the least populous ward with population of 4134.
