Kalimpong Municipality, with population of about 49 thousand is Darjiling district's the 2nd least populous municipality located in Darjiling district of the state West Bengal in India. Total geographical area of Kalimpong municipality is 9 km2 and it is the biggest city by area in the district. Population density of the city is 5692 persons per km2. There are 23 wards in the city, among them Kalimpong Ward No 16 is the most populous ward with population of 4737 and Kalimpong Ward No 17 is the least populous ward with population of 845.

Nearest railway station is Siliguri which is within the city. Kalimpong is the sub district head quarter of the city. District head quarter of the city is Darjeeling. Kolkata is the state head quarter of the city. Yearly average rainfall of the city is 197.6 mm. Maximum temperature here reaches up to 27°C and minimum temperature goes down to 6°C.
