Jawhar Tahsil, with population of about 1.4 lakh is Thane district's the 3rd least populous sub district, located in Thane district of the state Maharashtra in India. There are 108 villages in the sub district, among them Jawhar Rural is the most populous village with population of 2807 and Palshin is the least populous village with population of 228. Jawhar Rural is the biggest village in the sub district with an area of 19 km2 and Ramnagar is the smallest with 1 km2.

There is only one city in the sub district that comes under the sub district administration which is Jawhar Municipal Council.
