Rajasthan State, with population of about 7 crore is India's the 7th most populous state. Total geographical area of Rajasthan state is about 3.4 lakh km2 and it is the biggest state by area in the country. Population density of the state is 200 persons per km2. There are 33 districts in the state, among them Jaipur is the most populous district with population of about 66.3 lakh and Jaisalmer is the least populous district with population of about 6.7 lakh. Jaisalmer is the biggest district in the state with an area of about 38 thousand km2 and Dhaulpur is the smallest with 3033 km2.

Demographics

The state is home to about 7 crore people, among them about 4 crore (52%) are male and about 3 crore (48%) are female. 69% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 13% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Rajasthan state is 16%, among them 53% are boys and 47% are girls. There are about 1 crore households in the state and an average 5 persons live in every family.

The majority of the population, nearly 75% (about 5 crore) live in Rajasthan rural part and 25% (about 2 crore) population live in the Rajasthan urban part. Rural population density of Rajasthan state is 153 and urban population density is 2570 persons per km2.
