Total geographical area of Bharatpur district is 5066 km2 and it is the 8th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 503 persons per km2. There are 10 sub districts in the district, among them Bharatpur is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.5 lakh and Pahari is the least populous sub district with population of about 2 lakh.
