Total geographical area of Erode district is 5760 km2 and it is the 6th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 391 persons per km2. There are 5 sub districts in the district, among them Erode is the most populous sub district with population of about 8.2 lakh and Perundurai is the least populous sub district with population of about 2.7 lakh.
