Kancheepuram District, with population of about 40 lakh is Tamil Nadu's the 2nd most populous district, located in the state Tamil Nadu in India. Total geographical area of Kancheepuram district is 4483 km2 and it is the 15th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 892 persons per km2. There are 10 sub districts in the district, among them Alandur is the most populous sub district with population of about 6.4 lakh and Uthiramerur is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.5 lakh.

There are 11 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Pallavaram Municipality and Out Growth; Pallavaram, Tambaram, Alandur, Kancheepuram and Maraimalainagar Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 40 lakh people, among them about 20.1 lakh (50%) are male and about 19.9 lakh (50%) are female. 75% of the whole population are from general caste, 24% are from schedule caste and 1% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Kancheepuram district is 11%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls.
