Thrissur District, with population of about 31.2 lakh is Kerala's the 4th most populous district, located in the state Kerala in India. Total geographical area of Thrissur district is 3027 km2 and it is the 5th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 1031 persons per km2. There are 5 sub districts in the district, among them Thrissur is the most populous sub district with population of about 8.7 lakh and Kodungallur is the least populous sub district with population of about 3.1 lakh.

There are 8 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Thrissur Municipal Corporation; Kodungallur Municipality and Out Growth; Kunnamkulam, Chalakudy, Chavakkad, Kodungallur and Irinjalakuda Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous).
