Mysore District, with population of about 30 lakh is Karnataka's the 3rd most populous district, located in the state Karnataka in India. Total geographical area of Mysore district is 6307 km2 and it is the 13th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 476 persons per km2. There are 7 sub districts in the district, among them Mysore is the most populous sub district with population of about 12.8 lakh and Piriyapatna is the least populous sub district with population of about 2.4 lakh.

There are 2 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Mysore Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; and Mysore Municipal Corporation.

The district is home to about 30 lakh people, among them about 15.1 lakh (50%) are male and about 14.9 lakh (50%) are female. 71% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 11% are schedule tribes.
