Total geographical area of Jammu district is 2342 km2 and it is the 10th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 653 persons per km2. Municipal Corporation; Akhnoor (MC), R.S. Pora (MC), Bishna (MC), Arnia (MC) and Khore (MC) Municipal Committees (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 15.3 lakh people, among them about 8.1 lakh (53%) are male and about 7.2 lakh (47%) are female. 71% of the whole population are from general caste, 25% are from schedule caste and 5% are schedule tribes.
