Chitradurga District, with population of about 16.6 lakh is Karnataka's the 14th least populous district, located in the state Karnataka in India. Total geographical area of Chitradurga district is 8436 km2 and it is the 9th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 197 persons per km2. There are 6 sub districts in the district, among them Chitradurga is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.2 lakh and Molakalmuru is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.4 lakh.

Demographics

The district is home to about 16.6 lakh people, among them about 8.4 lakh (51%) are male and about 8.2 lakh (49%) are female. 58% of the whole population are from general caste, 23% are from schedule caste and 18% are schedule tribes.
