Haveri District, with population of about 16 lakh is Karnataka's the 13th least populous district, located in the state Karnataka in India. Total geographical area of Haveri district is 4823 km2 and it is the 10th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 331 persons per km2. There are 7 sub districts in the district, among them Ranibennur is the most populous sub district with population of about 3.4 lakh and Byadgi is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.4 lakh.

Demographics

The district is home to about 16 lakh people, among them about 8.2 lakh (51%) are male and about 7.8 lakh (49%) are female. 77% of the whole population are from general caste, 14% are from schedule caste and 9% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Haveri district is 12%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 3.3 lakh households in the district and an average 5 persons live in every family.
