Koppal District, with population of about 13.9 lakh is Karnataka's the 10th least populous district, located in the state Karnataka in India. Total geographical area of Koppal district is 5570 km2 and it is the 15th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 250 persons per km2. There are 4 sub districts in the district, among them Gangawati is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.6 lakh and Yelbarga is the least populous sub district with population of about 2.7 lakh.

The district is home to about 13.9 lakh people, among them about 7 lakh (50%) are male and about 6.9 lakh (50%) are female. 70% of the whole population are from general caste, 19% are from schedule caste and 12% are schedule tribes.
