Kurnool District, with population of about 40.5 lakh is Andhra Pradesh's the 7th least populous district, located in the state Andhra Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Kurnool district is about 18 thousand km2 and it is the 2nd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 230 persons per km2. There are 54 sub districts in the district, among them Kurnool is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.1 lakh and Dornipadu is the least populous sub district with population of about 26 thousand.

There are 6 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Kurnool Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Nandyal and Adoni Municipality and Out Growths Nandyal, Adoni and Yemmiganur Municipalities.

The district is home to about 40.5 lakh people, among them about 20.4 lakh (50%) are male and about 20.1 lakh (50%) are female. 80% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 2% are schedule tribes.
