Prakasam District, with population of about 34 lakh is Andhra Pradesh's the 5th least populous district, located in the state Andhra Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Prakasam district is about 18 thousand km2 and it is the 3rd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 193 persons per km2. There are 56 sub districts in the district, among them Ongole is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.5 lakh and Yeddana Pudi is the least populous sub district with population of about 28 thousand.

There are 6 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Ongole and Chirala Municipality and Out Growths Ongole, Chirala, Markapur and Kandukur Municipalities.

The district is home to about 34 lakh people, among them about 17.1 lakh (50%) are male and about 16.8 lakh (50%) are female. 72% of the whole population are from general caste, 23% are from schedule caste and 4% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Prakasam district is 11%, among them 52% are boys and 48% are girls. There are about 8.6 lakh households in the district and an average 4 persons live in every family.
