Krishna District, with population of about 45.2 lakh is Andhra Pradesh's the 3rd most populous district, located in the state Andhra Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Krishna district is 8727 km2 and it is the 4th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 518 persons per km2. There are 50 sub districts in the district, among them Vijayawada (Urban) is the most populous sub district with population of about 10.2 lakh and Pedaparupudi is the least populous sub district with population of about 31 thousand.

There are 6 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Nuzvid, Jaggaiahpet and Pedana Municipalities.

The district is home to about 45.2 lakh people, among them about 22.7 lakh (50%) are male and about 22.5 lakh (50%) are female. 78% of the whole population are from general caste, 19% are from schedule caste and 3% are schedule tribes.
