Visakhapatnam District, with population of about 42.9 lakh is Andhra Pradesh's the 4th most populous district, located in the state Andhra Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Visakhapatnam district is about 11 thousand km2 and it is the 6th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 384 persons per km2. There are 43 sub districts in the district, among them Visakhapatnam (Urban) is the most populous sub district with population of about 9.8 lakh and Cheedikada is the least populous sub district with population of about 47 thousand.

The district is home to about 42.9 lakh people, among them about 21.4 lakh (50%) are male and about 21.5 lakh (50%) are female. 78% of the whole population are from general caste, 8% are from schedule caste and 14% are schedule tribes.
