Khammam District, with population of about 28 lakh is Telangana's the 3rd least populous district, located in the state Telangana in India. Total geographical area of Khammam district is about 16 thousand km2 and it is the 3rd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 175 persons per km2. There are 46 sub districts in the district, among them Khammam (Urban) is the most populous sub district with population of about 3.1 lakh and Velairpadu is the least populous sub district with population of about 23 thousand.

There are 7 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Khammam and Yellandu Municipality and Out Growths Khammam, Palwancha, Kothagudem, Yellandu and Manugur Municipalities.

Demographics

The district is home to about 28 lakh people, among them about 13.9 lakh (50%) are male and about 14.1 lakh (50%) are female. 56% of the whole population are from general caste, 17% are from schedule caste and 27% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Khammam district is 10%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 7.5 lakh households in the district and an average 4 persons live in every family.
