Medak District, with population of about 30.3 lakh is Telangana's the 4th least populous district, located in the state Telangana in India. Total geographical area of Medak district is 9699 km2 and it is the 4th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 313 persons per km2. There are 46 sub districts in the district, among them Siddipet is the most populous sub district with population of about 1.7 lakh and Thoguta is the least populous sub district with population of about 34 thousand.

There are 10 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Sangareddy, Zahirabad, Siddipet, Sadasivpet and Medak Municipality and Out Growths Sangareddy, Siddipet, Zahirabad, Medak and Sadasivpet Municipalities.

Demographics

The district is home to about 30.3 lakh people, among them about 15.2 lakh (50%) are male and about 15.1 lakh (50%) are female. 77% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 6% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Medak district is 12%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 6.7 lakh households in the district and an average 5 persons live in every family.

The majority of the population, nearly 76% (about 23.1 lakh) live in Medak District rural part and 24% (about 7.3 lakh) population live in the Medak District urban part. Rural population density of Medak district is 247 and urban population density is 1960 persons per km2.
