Ahmadnagar District, with population of about 45.4 lakh is Maharashtra's the 6th most populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Ahmadnagar district is about 17 thousand km2 and it is the biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 266 persons per km2. There are 14 sub districts in the district, among them Nagar is the most populous sub district with population of about 6.8 lakh and Jamkhed is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.6 lakh.

There are 9 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Ahmadnagar Municipal Corporation; Shrirampur, Sangamner, Kopargaon, Rahuri and Shrigonda Municipal Councils (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 45.4 lakh people, among them about 23.4 lakh (52%) are male and about 22 lakh (48%) are female. 79% of the whole population are from general caste, 13% are from schedule caste and 8% are schedule tribes.
