Pune District Rural Part, with population of about 36.8 lakh is Maharashtra's the most rural populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Pune district rural part is about 15 thousand km2 and it is the 3rd biggest rural district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 248 persons per km2. There are 14 sub districts in the district, among them Haveli Rural is the most populous sub district with rural population of about 6.1 lakh and Pune City Rural is the least populous sub district with rural population of about 30 thousand.

There are 13 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporations Lonavala, Talegaon Dabhade, Baramati, Daund and Shirur Municipal Councils (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 36.8 lakh people, among them about 19 lakh (52%) are male and about 17.7 lakh (48%) are female. 83% of the whole population are from general caste, 10% are from schedule caste and 7% are schedule tribes.
