Thane District Urban Part, with population of about 85.1 lakh is Maharashtra's the 2nd most urban populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Thane district urban part is 1098 km2 and it is the biggest urban district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 7753 persons per km2. There are 13 sub districts in the district, among them Thane Urban is the most populous sub district with urban population of about 37.7 lakh and Vikramgad Urban is the least populous sub district with urban population of 5991.

There are 11 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, Mira-Bhayandar and Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporations (limited to 5 most populous) Ambarnath, Badlapur, Palghar, Dahanu and Jawhar Municipal Councils.
