Nashik District, with population of about 61.1 lakh is Maharashtra's the 4th most populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Nashik district is about 16 thousand km2 and it is the 3rd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 393 persons per km2. There are 15 sub districts in the district, among them Nashik is the most populous sub district with population of about 17.6 lakh and Peint is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.2 lakh.

There are 11 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Nashik and Malegaon Municipal Corporations; Malegaon Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Manmad, Sinnar, Yevla, Satana and Igatpuri Municipal Councils (limited to 5 most populous).

Demographics

The district is home to about 61.1 lakh people, among them about 31.6 lakh (52%) are male and about 29.5 lakh (48%) are female. 65% of the whole population are from general caste, 9% are from schedule caste and 26% are schedule tribes.
