Aurangabad District, with population of about 37 lakh is Maharashtra's the 10th most populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Aurangabad district is about 10 thousand km2 and it is the 13th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 366 persons per km2. There are 9 sub districts in the district, among them Aurangabad is the most populous sub district with population of about 15.9 lakh and Soegaon is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.1 lakh.

There are 7 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Aurangabad Municipal Corporation; Sillod, Paithan, Vaijapur, Kannad and Gangapur Municipal Councils (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 37 lakh people, among them about 19.2 lakh (52%) are male and about 17.8 lakh (48%) are female. 82% of the whole population are from general caste, 15% are from schedule caste and 4% are schedule tribes.
