Total geographical area of Parbhani district is 6214 km2 and it is the 10th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 295 persons per km2. There are 9 sub districts in the district, among them Parbhani is the most populous sub district with population of about 5.4 lakh and Sonpeth is the least populous sub district with population of about 90 thousand.
