Total geographical area of Chandrapur district is about 11 thousand km2 and it is the 9th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 193 persons per km2. There are 15 sub districts in the district, among them Chandrapur is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.8 lakh and Pombhurna is the least populous sub district with population of about 51 thousand.
