Nagpur District, with population of about 46.5 lakh is Maharashtra's the 5th most populous district, located in the state Maharashtra in India. Total geographical area of Nagpur district is 9892 km2 and it is the 14th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 470 persons per km2. There are 14 sub districts in the district, among them Nagpur (Urban) is the most populous sub district with population of about 24.1 lakh and Bhiwapur is the least populous sub district with population of about 82 thousand.

There are 11 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Nagpur Municipal Corporation; Kamptee, Umred, Katol, Savner and Ramtek Municipal Councils (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 46.5 lakh people, among them about 23.8 lakh (51%) are male and about 22.7 lakh (49%) are female. 72% of the whole population are from general caste, 19% are from schedule caste and 9% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Nagpur district is 11%, among them 52% are boys and 48% are girls.
