Kachchh District, with population of about 20.9 lakh is Gujarat's the 13th least populous district, located in the state Gujarat in India. Total geographical area of Kachchh district is about 46 thousand km2 and it is the biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 46 persons per km2. There are 10 sub districts in the district, among them Bhuj is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.4 lakh and Lakhpat is the least populous sub district with population of about 63 thousand.

There are 7 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Gandhidham, Bhuj, Anjar, Mandvi and Bhachau Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous) and Bhuj Municipality and Out Growth.

Demographics

The district is home to about 20.9 lakh people, among them about 11 lakh (52%) are male and about 10 lakh (48%) are female. 86% of the whole population are from general caste, 12% are from schedule caste and 1% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Kachchh district is 15%, among them 52% are boys and 48% are girls. There are about 4.5 lakh households in the district and an average 5 persons live in every family.
