Total geographical area of Mandla district is 5800 km2 and it is the 24th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 182 persons per km2. There are 6 sub districts in the district, among them Bichhiya is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.6 lakh and Narayanganj is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.1 lakh.
