Raisen District, with population of about 13.3 lakh is Madhya Pradesh's the 24th least populous district, located in the state Madhya Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Raisen district is 8466 km2 and it is the 8th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 157 persons per km2. There are 8 sub districts in the district, among them Goharganj is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.7 lakh and Badi is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.1 lakh.

The district is home to about 13.3 lakh people, among them about 7 lakh (53%) are male and about 6.3 lakh (47%) are female. 68% of the whole population are from general caste, 17% are from schedule caste and 15% are schedule tribes.
