Total geographical area of Sehore district is 6578 km2 and it is the 20th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 199 persons per km2. There are 8 sub districts in the district, among them Sehore is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.8 lakh and Rehti is the least populous sub district with population of about 92 thousand.

The district is home to about 13.1 lakh people, among them about 6.8 lakh (52%) are male and about 6.3 lakh (48%) are female. 68% of the whole population are from general caste, 21% are from schedule caste and 11% are schedule tribes.
