Total geographical area of Barwani district is 5427 km2 and it is the 21st smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 255 persons per km2. There are 9 sub districts in the district, among them Sendhwa is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.3 lakh and Thikri is the least populous sub district with population of about 79 thousand.
