Ujjain District, with population of about 19.9 lakh is Madhya Pradesh's the 10th most populous district, located in the state Madhya Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Ujjain district is 6091 km2 and it is the 25th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 326 persons per km2. There are 7 sub districts in the district, among them Ujjain is the most populous sub district with population of about 6.7 lakh and Ghatiya is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.4 lakh.

There are 7 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Ujjain Municipal Corporation; Nagda, Khacharod, Badnagar and Mahidpur Municipalities Badnagar and Mahidpur Municipality and Out Growths.

Demographics

The district is home to about 19.9 lakh people, among them about 10.2 lakh (51%) are male and about 9.7 lakh (49%) are female. 71% of the whole population are from general caste, 26% are from schedule caste and 2% are schedule tribes.
