Total geographical area of Damoh district is 7306 km2 and it is the 15th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 173 persons per km2. There are 7 sub districts in the district, among them Damoh is the most populous sub district with population of about 3.6 lakh and Patera is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.2 lakh.

There are 3 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Damoh Municipality and Out Growth; Damoh and Hatta Municipalities.
