Sagar District, with population of about 23.8 lakh is Madhya Pradesh's the 3rd most populous district, located in the state Madhya Pradesh in India. Total geographical area of Sagar district is about 10 thousand km2 and it is the 2nd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 232 persons per km2. There are 11 sub districts in the district, among them Sagar is the most populous sub district with population of about 8.2 lakh and Kesli is the least populous sub district with population of about 1.2 lakh.

There are 8 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Sagar Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Sagar Municipal Corporation; Bina- Etawa, Khurai, Garhakota, Rehli and Deori Municipalities and Garhakota Municipality and Out Growth.

Demographics

The district is home to about 23.8 lakh people, among them about 12.6 lakh (53%) are male and about 11.2 lakh (47%) are female. 70% of the whole population are from general caste, 21% are from schedule caste and 9% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Sagar district is 15%, among them 52% are boys and 48% are girls. There are about 5.2 lakh households in the district and an average 5 persons live in every family.
